First issue [the book was issued with and without ads, both have equal staus. This is a copy without ads]. Some rubbing to the board edges and bumping to the spine tips. Top edge dusty. Endpapers a little tanned and spotted. Slight pull to the hinges. Number 39 on the NPR greatest SF list. In the Locus list for best SF of all time there are only four novels listed prior to WWII, including Star Maker, The Time Machine, Frankenstein and War of the Worlds, which whilst it's easy to think of others that should be included it's hard to argue that those four shouldn't.
