London, Samuel Tinsley, 1874. First edition, first impression. Hardback. A good copy only. Ex-library. A rare and important pre-war interplanetary fiction, and the darling of such collectors. Alas, not a perfect copy, but a copy nonetheless. London has fallen, science is super-advanced and we take a journey to the planets; Venus, Mars, Jupiter and the Moon. A great book, and the first we've encountered. Condition: this set has flaws, let's start from the outside and work in. The books have been rebacked. It's pretty good but there are colour differences. The boards are grubby too, with some rubbing. No contents leaf in volume three, endpapers absent, library plates to front pastedowns. Perforated stamps to the title pages. Some chipping to the leaf edges. Evidence of library marking removal to the rear. [10765, Hyraxia Books].
