London, Michael Houghton, 1949. First edition, first impression. Hardback. A very good book in a good jacket. Inscribed to the half-title by Gardner to author and art historian James Laver who was Gardner's friend and a fellow nudist (for what it's worth). Gardner was the most prominent player in contemporary paganism, he is credited with popularising the Wiccan religion and its rituals in the mid-20th century. A couple of areas of loss to the top of the jacket, and a couple of short tears, some staining to the lower spine tip that's transferred to the boards. Light chipping elsewhere. Spine tips bumped, a little softened and shaken [10787, Hyraxia Books].
