No Place (London), No Publisher, nd [1850s]. First edition, first impression. Paperback. A very good copy. I've noted this as a first, but there's nothing to really suggest it is as there were a number of issues produced without dates and it's not known if they precede the dated issue. A Lost Race story of sorts, directly inspired by the fantasy conjoured around the real 'Bartola and Maximo' two Salvadoran children exploted in zoos in the mid-19th century. Some handling wear to the wrappers and a little light chipping, but nice overall. Full title: The History of the Aztec Lilliputians: Illustrated Memoir of an Eventful Expedition into Central America; Resulting in the Discovery of the Idolatrous City of Iximaya, in an Unexplored Region; and the Possession of Two Remarkable Aztec Children, Maximo (The Man) and Bartola (The Girl) Descendants and Specimens of the Sacerdotal Cast (Now Nearly Extinct), of the Ancient Aztec Founders of the Ruined Temples of that Country, Described by John L. Stephens, Esq., and Other Travellers [10862, Hyraxia Books].
