New York, John Day, 1929. First edition, first impression. Hardback. A very good copy, in the jacket. Translated by Guy Endore. Ewers' take on the medieval German myth wherein a human-mandrake thing is born from the semen of a hanged man (I have no better explanation, so we'll go with it). This take doesn't include a mandrake-human, alas, just a fairly odd human. Some edgewear to the jacket and a large chip to the rear, tanning to the spine. A couple of nicks to the spine and a little bumping. Superb illustrations throughout by Blaine. Illustrations by Mahlon Blaine [10893, Hyraxia Books].
