Edinburgh & London, William Blackwood, 1889. First edition, first impression. Hardback. A fine copy. Inscribed by the author to his wife Jeannie as 'Shield'. This copy noted as copy #1. "A student discovers a means to induce dreams by means of a drug. One long dream sequence is a modern 'deal with the devil' story, with the devil disguised as a lawyer." [Locke, Spectrum I: 16]. Quite uncommon. A superb copy. Nicholson (1850-1927) was an economist primarily but wrote three novels: Thoth, Dreamer of Dreams, and Toxar. Each in the early science fiction realm. 24pp catalogue dated 12/88 to the rear. Binding just a little skewed and twisted. [11574, Hyraxia Books].
