London, Hodder & Stoughton, 1965. First edition, first impression. Hardback. A near fine copy. A story of survival after a disaster, similar to Cormac McCarthy's The Road, this story follows a British market gardener and a young lad as they struggle to survive a new world slowly turning a bit Lord-of-the-Flies-ish. A little handling wear, a little bumping to the spine tips, small bookshop sticker. A few marks to the foreedge and a little unnecessary tape to the jacket reverse at the head of the spine. John Christopher (1922-1912) doesn't register on many sf radars nowadays, but his work is well-regarded by those who do read him. He's perhaps best known for the cosy catastrophe, The Death of Grass. Cover art by Brian Keogh [11667, Hyraxia Books].
