Very good condition. Seemingly two studies for jacket covers, having not been printed as far as we can tell. They state 'Dent' at the foot of the spine, which could suggest they were proposals for the Everyman's Library editions of the 1940s and 1950s, though they are much different from the Ravilious jackets of that era, and Dutton may be expected there too. So perhaps they were a separate proposed edition, though if there was an issue with these two novels outside the Everyman's Library, I can't find it. The plate for the upper boards measure 110mm x 175mm. Artist is denoted as RAS, the most obvious being Ralph A Smith, best known for his space artwork. The theme would fit, but the signature doesn't, and neither really does the style. So I suspect that's a red herring. [11697, Hyraxia Books].
