London, Arthur Pearson, 1900. First edition, first impression. . A very good copy. Six issues (Jan 1900 No 49 Vol IX - June 1900 No 54 Vol IX). Complete and subsequently published as A Honeymoon in Space in 1901. Rare in this format, particularly as issued (rather than bound volumes). Generally decent shape, with some rusting to the staples, a few short tears to the edges, some chipping to the spines. Internally neat, particularly to the story pages (the ads are on cheaper paper which is toned). George Griffith (1857-1906) was one of the leading voices in contemporary science fiction / scientific romance, particularly in the future war subgenre. He first found success with The Angel of the Revolution which was the most popular work of science fiction at the time until the Time Machine toppled it. Largely forgotten nowadays, as his work doesn't always stand up to modern military advancements, he was however one of the first English writers to make a full-time living from science fiction.
