London, Brockhampton Press, 1956. First edition, first impression. Hardback. A very good copy of the book, but we're not overly interested in the book, rather it's the two Val Biro paintings that steal the show. One is clearly a study for the final design, but the other is in many ways much more appealing, with the bold red background and the dragon and boy front and centre. Both are folded sheets with the painted areas measuring around 150mm x 200mm. Book's jacket a bit chipped and worn, and failing at the spine. [11740, Hyraxia Books].
