London, Longmans, Green & Co., 1930. First edition, first impression. Hardback. A very good copy. Inscribed by the author. Laid in is a short letter, also from Morris, with a small colour sketch and Christian poem to the reverse. A retelling of Welsh mythological stories of the Mabinogion. Kenneth Morris (1879-1937) was, according to Le Guin, an important fantasist, worthy to rank with MacDonald, Eddison and Tolkien. Small ink stamp '89' on the front flat, heavy wear to the head of the spine including a couple of decent tears and splitting to the spine tip. Rubbing and creasing to the jacket edges, with a couple of chips and few tears. Some fading to the jacket spine, and likewise to the cloth, some split to the edges and wear to the corners. Other than the inscription on the endpaper there's a short address inked there too. A bit ragged, but inscribed. Illustrations by Ferdinand Huszti Horvath [11760, Hyraxia Books].
