London, William Blackwood, 1817-1818. Hardback. A very good copy. Covering October 1817 to March 1818, the review being in the March issue at page 613. Apparently attributed to Walter Scott, but the present copy seems to provide no evidence of that. The review is length at around seven double-column pages, with a fairly positive tone. The author of the article refers to the author of Frankenstein as male, which makes sense. One of the earliest reviews no doubt, and a lengthy one at that. Leather in pretty decent shape with a little rubbing to the hinges, but nice overall. Contents page heavily foxed, some later leaves are foxed but much less so, and all others in excellent shape. Title page coming loose. The book is an ex-library book, noted only by a plate on the pastedown, but the text block is unaffected. [11852, Hyraxia Books].
