London, Gerald Duckworth, 1931. First edition, first impression. Hardback. A very good copy. A lost race novel involving an Aztec civilisation in Mexico. Uncommon. Jacket chipped and worn, with toning and edge wear. Two small areas of loss to the top edges, connected by creasing. Internally neat with just a little lean and some bumping to the spine tips. Frederick Albert Mitchell-Hedges was an English explorer and adventure, there's speculation that he was the inspiration for Indiana Jones, but there's little evidence for this; more likely the pulp heroes that likely inspired Indy were in turn inspired by Mitchell-Hedges. He's best known for his 'discovery' of The Crystal Skull, which was indeed an important element in the 2008 film. [11866, Hyraxia Books].
