London, Collins, 1935. First edition, first impression. Hardback. A very good copy in a good jacket. Inscribed by the author to the front endpaper 'For my great friend, R. Fletcher, from Gabriel,' and dated. Also accompanying the book is a telegram from [Gabriel] Marlowe to the same chap. Uncommon, and a bit of a gem in the world of fantasy collecting. Involves a 'monstrous' brother living in the attic, with a forked tongue and the usual get up. Wonderful Whistler jacket. The jacket is chipped to the head and foot of the spine, most notably the upper fold is split along 75% of its length. Tape to the jacket reverse in several places. Book a little bumped and knocked. Price-clipped. Cover art by Rex Whistler [11924, Hyraxia Books].
