London, MacMillan, 1953. First edition, first impression. Hardback. A very good copy. The author's first novel, published earlier in the US by Scribner. The UK first state* is quite scarce. The first state has the price 12s 6d, is unclipped and lacks the Overseas Library Stamp to the rear flap. A little edge wear to the jacket, a slight lean and some sunning to the spine. Edges foxed, but internally neat. *it's unclear whether this is a state or issue point. Kurt Vonnegut (1922-2007) is one of those rare writers bridging the gap between literary fiction and science fiction. He's best remembered for Slaughterhouse Five, along with Cat's Cradle and The Sirens of Titan. [11942, Hyraxia Books].
