Suvin dismisses the book as non-fiction, and by his definitions, I can't argue with that. But I feel he is being overly-inflexible. To my mind, it is a prose-poem to be read and at times savoured as literature, with descriptions to match those found in many straight science fiction stories; it is far from being non-fiction as we know it and is potentially as important a contribution to SF as the thriller 'Zalma.'
