London, Swan Sonnenschein & Co., 1893. First edition, first impression. Hardback. A near fine copy. 'A descriptive, panoramic history of Earth from its creation to its end in the future. Suvin dismisses the book as non-fiction, and by his definitions, I can't argue with that. But I feel he is being overly-inflexible. To my mind, it is a prose-poem to be read and at times savoured as literature, with descriptions to match those found in many straight science fiction stories; it is far from being non-fiction as we know it and is potentially as important a contribution to SF as the thriller 'Zalma.' Rebound in half leather, with marbled boards, TEG. Some rubbing to the leather. Internally very neat. [11971, Hyraxia Books].
