C.F. Caunter - Madness Opens the Door - Thornton Butterworth, 1932, First Edition.
London, Thornton Butterworth, 1932. First edition, first impression. Hardback. A fine copy. An uncommon science fiction novel, and a fairly early example of a space story set outside the solar system. "The distressed protagonist of [Madness Opens the Door] is taken via matter transmitter first to the Moon and thence through interstellar space to an entirely new planet circling Alpha Centauri, where he fatally encounters creatures evocative of those found in much Prehistoric SF" [SFE, Clute]. A few short tears and some rolling to the jacket, but an excellent example overall. A little offsetting to the endpapers, and some foxing to the foreedge but a pleasing copy overall. [11992, Hyraxia Books].
