London, Richard Bentley, 1846-1847. First edition, first impression. Paperback. A very good copy. Complete in 16 issues. All plates present (32 engravings plus a portrait). A satirical look at contemporary Victorian society, through the eyes of a fairly daft protagonist. Some wear to the wrappers, including chipping and short tears, the odd area of loss here and there but nothing too extensive, ownership inscription on issue two. Lower wrapper of final issue has been reattached fairly neatly. Some soiling to the wrappers also. Title page at the end of the final volume adds the suffix 'At Home and Abroad' to the title and is dated 1848 (though the final issue is 1847). Illustrations by John Leech [12245, Hyraxia Books].
