Bristol, J.W. Arrowsmith, 1895. Archive of four items. 1. Autograph Manuscript, 166pp. From the noted collection of Horace Noble Pym. Inscribed "To \ Horace N. Pym \ from J. Anstey Guthrie", on the next leaf a presentation letter from the author to Pym. It has been bound in a pleasing volume signed 'Tout Binder'. Full morocco, thick raised bands, wonderful detailing marbled endpapers, Pym's bookplate, autograph pages mounted on larger paper. Some revisions, including a nice retitling. 2. Bristol, J.W. Arrowsmith, 1885. First British edition, rebound in full morocco. Andrew Lang's copy. Inscribed "Andrew Lang [illegible] \ from his very sincere friend \ the author \ Oct: 1885". Small morocco ex-libris plate pasted in, presumably from an earlier binding. Bound by Zaensdorf. In decent shape, the leather is a faded non-uniformly, bookplate of John Arthur Brooke to the front pastedown, first blank is torn and almost detached, seller's description pasted in. 3. Bristol, J.W. Arrowsmith, 1885. First British edition, offered in a much later (1918 jacket). The book is near fine with a slight lean and some toning to the spine, a little light foxing. Jacket worn and torn, but a pleasing addition. 4. New York, Harper, 1898. Inscribed first American edition. Inscribed thus: "To Julian Pym \ from his affoctionate friend \ Anstey Guthrie \ Jan: 1898", very good condition with some wear to the boards, rubbing to the cloth and a little to the gilt.
