London, Various, 1943-1948. First Edition. First Impression. Paperback. 25 volumes. A diverse collection of 1940s paperbacks each in near fine to fine condition. Most have not been located in auction sales and are mostly the only copies currently available on the market. A detailed description is as follow:

1. A fine copy, wonderfully preserved. A small paperback. An uncommon collection of ghost stories. One small nick to lower edge, otherwise a wonderful copy, and that's barely worth mentioning. Five stories of the weird and supernatural [Locke, Spectrum I, p116];

2. A fine copy, well preserved and very uncommon. No copies at auction. Published in Astounding in the same year. Slight band of toning to the top edge, otherwise excellent. [Bleiler, p53, as SF];

3. A fine copy with a short tear to the top corner. Very well preserved. The author's first collection [Currey]. Collects together nine short stories on subjects as diverse as Cannibalism, Fantasy and Vampies [Locke, Spectrum I, p191]; 4. A fine copy. Collects together five short stories namely The Man Who Howled, The Lady in Suite 7, Tagriff's Cats, Murder from Far Away and Moon of Evil. Uncommon. Continues the adventures of Lucian Carolus. A little light wear, but a wonderful copy overall. [Bleiler, p11, as a collection of supernatural fiction]; 5. A fine copy. Very uncommon. A vaguely comic work vaguely science fictional (levitation!). A little trivial handling wear, but excellent condition for a 1944 chapbook; 6. A fine copy. Uncommon, particularly in this condition. A lovely copy. Part of Bantam / Todd's series of chapbooks which also included Wells' Ironclads and a couple of Dickens pieces. None online, none at auction and only one copy on COPAC, that being the BL copy. Illustration by Frank R. Grey; 7. A near fine copy. Paperback with card-reinforced wraps. Collects together seven shorts: The Death Ray Dictator; Mr Smith Seeks Adventure; Shaken Identities; Concerning Mummies; The Welsh Poet; The Busk of Emmanuel and Counterfeit.The Death Ray Dictator, set in a future 1960 , is the only SF story [Locke, Spectrum I, p212].
