None, None, n.d.. Manuscript. Unbound. The typescript is in excellent condition, just a clip mark to the first and last sheet. 78pp. The typescript covers approximately 1/3 of the novel, starting at page 216 and finishing at page 310 (the final page). The conent varies widely. It's unclear whether the Emperor of America was an expansion of Murder in Manhattan, but the latter does present reasonably well by itself as a single piece, though more likely the final part of three or four (the Emperor of America was published in 1927 in Collier's but with a lack of a copy to hand and online archive unavailable due to copyright the comparison cannot be made). Rohmer did rework a lot of earlier material which culminated in The Emperor of America, so it's likely this (or an instance thereof) played a part in that process. No amendments, except where 'centre' has been switched to the American spelling. The book is very good with some bumping to the spine tips and a slight lean. The jacket presents well but has a few flaws (damage to upper crease resulting in a few holes, slice to rear, corners chipped, a little damp staining to interior). Rohmer manuscript material is uncommon in recent commerce [7775, Hyraxia Books].
