London, Cassell, 1906. First Edition. First Impression. Hardback. A near fine copy. Inscribed by the author to the patterned endpaper. ALS from the author laid-in (3 sides). In Bleiler under Reincarnation and futurity [Bleiler, p113]: "Napoleon lookalike who incites his Legions of Labour to overthrow the British government" [Clarke, p32]. The inscription reads 'To Mrs[?] and Mr[?] Peter [???] with new year greetings and king regards, Coulson Kernahan, Dec 31st 1906'. The contents of the letter remains a mystery, obfuscated by Kernahan's script. I leave it to the collector to uncover that mystery. Condition: the boards are inevitably a touch rubbed, but the white lettering appears to have, at some point, been rubbed away completely and re-written by hand (evident moreso as the publisher's imprint wasn't touched up). Owner's inscription to half-title, tissue-guard foxed. Cover art by Stanley L. Wood [8140, Hyraxia Books].
