London, The Readers Library, n.d. [1927]. First British Edition. First Impression. Hardback. A good copy. In the rare dustjacket. The book and jacket are both the first issue (no mention of Metropolis in either ads). An important milestone in science fiction. Thea von Harbou and her husband, Fritz Lang, worked on the film concurrently. The plot of the film and book were produced together. It was a massive undertaking, and hugely popular. It remains one of the era's most important films, and the present title is one of the most collectable books in science fiction film. Uncommon. The jacket is a little worn, some chips and a few short tears - particularly to the top at the rear. One larger tear to the rear, L-shaped and around 40mm in total. The book is fairly well preserved with two tears (30mm or so) to the first leaf. Overall, a presentable copy. Cover art by Aubrey Hammond [8385, Hyraxia Books].
