London, Cassell, 1966. First Edition. First Impression. Hardback. A very good copy of scarce book. Much more common in the US first edition. First introduced as a short story in 1959, Keyes expanded the wonderful story to novel length. It was published by Harcourt in 1966 in the US, and by Cassell in the UK. Currey has the US edition as first, but other sources suggest the Cassell. An uncommon book. Some rubbing and pushing to the spine tips and corners, short tear to the lower edge. Bookshop sticker to the front flap. Slight lean to the spine, some foxing to the edges, a little foxing to the endpapers and flaps. Overall an fairly nice copy.
