Walton-on-Thames, 1965. Typescript (or rather a telediphone script) of BBC correspondent Leigh Crutchley's interview for The World of Books radio show with John le Carre, with covering letter. The typescript is 16 pages of interview between Cruthcley and le Carre. It's dated 31st October 1965, pre-dating the release of the Spy Who Came in from the Cold film. The letter is addressed to writer Arthur Calder Marshall, to whom Crutchley was sending the typescript. It's signed 'Reggie' which was Crutchley's nickname (presumably from his 1959 BBC radio production where he played a character Reggie). Likely one of only a handful of copies (we located one other in an institution here in the UK). Certainly uncommon. We have no record of it having been published. The condition is very good though the staple's not holding very well and there's a little foxing. [8776, Hyraxia Books].
