London, Richard Bentley, 1841. First edition, first impression. Hardback. A good copy. Three [3] volumes in the original boards. Extra plates from 1846 edition pasted in to volume one, with a proof of the same plate signed by John Leech. Laid in are the leaves of a poem 'A Tale of Grammarye', seemingly by Dalton Ingoldsby from a later Bentley anthology. Also laid in is an 1870 Cruickshank sheet remembering Ingolsby, possibly from an edition of his works. Condition: The boards are a little split, particularly volume one. Labels are chipped and toned. Boards rubbed and worn, particularly to the edges. Internally very neat. Small catalogue description pasted to front pastedown. [8956, Hyraxia Books].
