c1950. Good condition. Tayler isn't particularly well known, but provided cover art for a number of paperbacks in the 1950s and 1960s including Pan paperbacks of Forester's Hornblower books, Attenborough's Zoo Quest books, a couple of Agatha Christies, Nevil Shutes and Ian Fleming's Diamond Smugglers (the one with the two hands and the diamonds). The first page is a study for Allan Quatermain by Haggard. There are five further pieces, two of which appear to be for Quatermain, the other three appear to be WWII related. None of the sketches are signed, except one signed DG (David Graham). Boards are worn, as is the strap. Internally a bit stained and grubby to the pastedowns. A couple of early sheets have been excised. [8969, Hyraxia Books].
