London, Jonathan Cape, 1964. First edition, first impression. Hardback. A very good copy. From the collection of Canadian Science Fiction writer Douglas Hill. Previously published in 1964 as The Burning World, but expanded for the present first hardback edition. A classic of disaster fiction, and a direct contrast to the earlier Drowned World. Some wear to the hear and tail of the spine, slight lean and some toning to the block. Hill's stamp to the front pastedown. Ballard's Subliminal Man was included in Window on the Future which was edited by Hill. A nice association. Cover art by David Fawcett [9038, Hyraxia Books].
