London, R. Hindmarsh, 1787. First edition, first impression. Hardback. A near fine copy. First English-language edition, preceded by a 1758 Latin issue. A rare work on the plurality of worlds. Based on the author's 'visions'. An interesting work straddling the border between early scientific investigation and mysticism/theosophy (mostly the latter to be fair). The author describes his connections with the inhabitants of The Moon, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn, with a good deal of discourse on exoplanets beyond our solar system, not to mention plenty of Christianity thrown in. A couple of leaves have nicks in the foreedge, a couple have torn corners, but overall very well preserved. Bound in simulated wooden boards. An excellent copy. [9161, Hyraxia Books].
