London, Eyre Methuen, 1977. First edition, first impression. Hardback. Near fine condition, with toned sheets as is usual. First UK edition, published simultaneously with the paperback. It was only a matter of time until Dick wrote a story called Simulacra. An expansion of his 1964 story, "The Novelty Act". Comparable to The Man in the High Castle in many ways, though not quite as effective - though that shouldn't be taken as a slight; it's still one of his stronger novels. Like many of Dick's novels, it had been re-titled. Dick had titled the expansion 'First Lady of Earth', Terry Carr his editor at ACE (who first published the paperback in 1964) gave it the present title. Noted as being one of Dick's favourite works of his. Owner's inscription to the front free endpaper, a little nick to one fore corner. Cover art by Chris Moore [9183, Hyraxia Books].
