London, Digby and Long, 1890. First edition, first impression. Hardbacks. A good set. Three volumes, complete. Huddart was a fairly obscure Victorian writer having penned six novels. She corresponded with George Bernard Shaw for many years. A Modern Milkmaid is an uncommon book. No copies recorded at auction, and WorldCat locates just two copies (Dundee and St Louis), there was apparently a second issuing in 1892. Condition: The books have evidence of coming from a circulating library, solely by stickers to the upper boards (volume one has had the sticker removed at some point). Some grubbiness, bumping and dusting. Internally in pretty good shape. [9280, Hyraxia Books].
