London, Cassell, 1911. First edition, first impression. Hardback. A very good copy, of a popular work. Offered with the book is an ms poem in the hand of John O'Connor, GKC's inspiration for Father Brown. The poem was dictated by GKC to O'Connor. The ms was then, fifteen years later, handed to R.N. Green-Armytage (himself an important figure in the Catholic / Literary circle of the time). RNG-A has included a note of provenance on the ms. The book bears RNG-A's bookplate, tying the two items together nicely. So, GKC's poem, written by Father Brown himself. RNG-A notes that the poem is unpublished, but the poem has since been published. The book is very good with some rubbing to the cloth, darkening to the spine and some bumping to the tips. The ms is a single folded sheet, toned but otherwise in good shape. [9352, Hyraxia Books].
