The book was first published in English by Bles in 1925, this is the subsequent 1948 printing which had been retitled. As to whether this is a proof or not it's hard to say, it's certainly not the earliest state of pre-publication state from this edition as it had been titled An Explosive Phantasy on an earlier state. The book bears the publisher's stamp to the title. Typed spine label. This could quite easily be just an unbound copy that the publishers kept for their archive - odd to not have an upper wrap, but this could've just been lost.
