n.d. [1967]. Manuscript. Unbound. A near fine copy. An unproduced television script by Peter Shaffer, best known for Equus and Amadeus. Paul Giovanni (of Wicker Man fame) is noted as a special consultant. We can find no other copies of this, and other than a LoC copyright reference, no further information. An interesting piece involving an ageing lecturer, Lucas, touring NYC and being befriended by a couple of hippies, Sam and Elsie (also known as Sam). Lucas ends up taking acid and regressing to a neanderthal and subsequently to his infant years. It all gets a bit Cronenbergy (yes, that's a word) toward the end. Certainly has the right elements for speculative fiction, but I think it probably more of a contemporary drama than intended for the genre. This is certainly a top copy (given the ink transfer to the versos) and has a few autograph corrections but nothing lengthy that I can see. Typed, single-sided, four acts, c210 pages. Brad-bound in peach covers. Some glue staining and a little foxing. A desirable piece for a [9628, Hyraxia Books].
