London, T. Gardner, 1755. First edition, first impression. Hardback. A very good copy. Four volumes, complete. Uncommon in commerce. Haywood was a prolific writer in the early 18th Century and credited as one of the pioneering developers of the English realistic novel. Bound in full calf. Leather a touch worn, with chipping to the spine tips and some areas quite rubbed. Owner's plate and inscription to each volume. Appears complete, with title pages to each volume, possibly some endpapers absent from volume two. A couple of wormholes in volume one (alas, not of the cosmic type; believe me, I checked). Some short tears and holes to a few leaves. Largely in excellent shape overall. [9801, Hyraxia Books].
