London, Allen and Unwin, 1946. First edition, first impression. Hardback. A very good copy. Inscribed by both Reynolds and Crisp. The first inscription is from the author to his friend, painter Arthur Ballard. It's noted as the first copy received from the publisher (1946), it has subsequently been inscribed by Crisp, the artist, to fellow artist Mervyn Levy. A lovely set of inscriptions. The jacket is tanned to the spine and a little edgeworn, and printed on wartime paper (the reverse is a French map). There's a chip to the top edge of the jacket rear. Nice shape overall. Illustrations by Quentin Crisp [9824, Hyraxia Books].
