No Place, No Publisher, n.d. [c1931?]. A manuscript collection of W. Graham Robertson's play The Fountain of Youth: A Comic Opera. Robertson was a writer and illustrator perhaps best known for his work on The Wind in the Willows, and The Napoleon of Notting Hill, but also known for being the subject of a John Singer Sargent painting. The present collection comprises [1] First rough draft of the play across two exercise books. Book one is c40 pages, in Robertson's hand recto and verso. Book two is c60 pages, again in Robertson's hand - seemingly Acts I and II respectively. [2] Second / Final draft, 58pp on long sheets, autograph, single-sided [3] Long galley for the 1931 Secker publication of the play [4] 1931 Secker publication of the play [5] Lyric Theatre Programme for the play [6] Musical score book (Elkin, London, 1931) for the Lyric Theatre production - with a note explaining the score, dated 1960 (I'm not sure of the relevance of the note - it was after Robertson's death, so perhaps it was from the composer Alfred Reynolds for a later production?). A fantastic collection. Condition is very good throughout, some foxing to the second draft and a little edgewear, but nothing to write home about. [9947, Hyraxia Books].
