Banks, Iain M.
Iain Banks (1954-2013) is well known for having written both regular fiction and science fiction, with the middle initial M distinguishing his science fiction from the usual stuff. His untimely death in 2013 put an end to his expansive space opera surrounding The Culture, a post-scarcity, AI-laden 'utopia,' but its legacy lives on - in part because he somehow managed to make fascinating stories about civilisations that wanted for nothing.
The most collectable of his science fictions are the first two books Consider Phlebas and The Player of Games. Signed first editions of these are not too uncommon, but the limited editions (176 and 201 copies of each, respectively) can be tricky to find (when you see more than a couple of either, you know the prices aren't matching demand!) The chapbooks are collectable too, but often found at inflated prices. We are actively seeking proofs of most sf titles, and are always looking for inscribed first editions of pretty much any title in the sf moniker. Over the years, we've handled probably over 100 signed titles, and all the proofs. We even had a typescript of Phlebas. Get in touch if you're looking to sell.
